A smooth first setup is mostly about choosing a player that suits your television and entering the access details carefully. The exact menus differ between Samsung, LG, Android TV and streaming devices, but the core process stays the same.
A smooth first setup is mostly about choosing a player that suits your television and entering the access details carefully. The exact menus differ between Samsung, LG, Android TV and streaming devices, but the core process stays the same.
Before you begin
Check that your television is online, its software is current and you can open its official app store. Keep the welcome email containing your service details nearby. If the television does not offer a suitable player, a supported Fire TV or Android TV device can be the simpler route.
- Stable home broadband
- A supported television or streaming device
- A compatible player from the official app store
- The access details supplied after activation
1. Choose a compatible player
Open the app store on your Smart TV and look for a player compatible with your model. Player availability can vary by manufacturer, model year and country. The player is the viewing application; it does not normally include a channel package by itself.
2. Add the supplied access details
Open the player and select the login method shown in your welcome guide. Depending on the app, you may be asked for a username and password, a playlist address or portal information. Enter every character exactly and avoid sharing these credentials.
3. Allow the first sync to finish
The first load can take a few minutes while live categories, programme information and on-demand sections are prepared. Keep the app open and the television connected. If the list remains empty, check for typing errors before reinstalling anything.
4. Test the screen you will actually use
Play several eligible channels for a few minutes and test at the time of day you normally watch. Check sound, programme information, remote-control navigation and picture stability. This gives a more useful result than opening one channel briefly.
If playback is not stable
Restart the player, then the television and router. If possible, compare Wi-Fi with Ethernet. Close large downloads on other devices and test a lower picture-quality option. If the login is rejected or categories do not load, contact support with the device model and player name.
